Cartwright Intramural Hockey –Week One, January 12th
Once again Intramural Hockey has begun at Cartwright High and it was a great start to the season yesterday. In game one Team Owttrim was pitted against Team Robinson. Team Robinson took an early lead with goals from Cody Strachen and Bradyen Stamp. In the second period two goals by Tiesen Wright and one by Alanna Williams helped to stretch the lead to 5-0. Despite some great puck handling by Noah Traquair and Connor Owttrim, who scored the Team Owtrim’s only goal, they were unable to make a come back and lost the game 5-1.
In the second game Team Goris faced off against Team McCormick. Two early goals by Darren Vanuden helped Team McCormick take an early 2-0 lead. But Team Goris, feeling down but not out, rallied in the second period to score 4 unanswered goals by Ben Partington (2), Sam Clemens and Taylor Down. This coupled with some solid defense by Charlotte Clemens and Alysha Duiveteyn provided the team with a victory to start the season.
